Biometric technologies resolve the issues of physical identification, and their application fields are the different systems, where such identification is required.

First of all it is necessary to mention the information access systems, where biometric technologies have essential advantage over the other methods. Unlike a password (which person knows and can report to someone) or different cards and keys (which belong to the man and can be lost or copied), biometric parameters identify definitely exactly the person. There are the same advantages by application of biometric technologies in area of physical access in different access control systems.

Exactly coming from above mentioned advantages of BT, the decision was made about their using in passport and visa documents.

Traditionally biometrics is used in criminalistics. Information contents, with which it is necessary to encounter, are measured with millions of records at that and there is even the special term for designation of such systems – AFIS (Automated fingerprint identification system).

Biometric technologies are also used in other spheres, for example, for the search of wanted person in the stream of people by appearance. Particular interest is caused by application of biometrics in the field of medicine.
